The Diploma in Resource Management (MRII50124) is designed to help you hone or obtain the skills and knowledge required to lead and manage workers across a broad spectrum of mining and quarrying environments across Australia and New Zealand.

Target Audience

Management skills are essential for safe, efficient, sustainable, and profitable mining and quarrying operations. Effective management involves the application of people, technical, supervisory and management skills, setting and maintaining high standards of worker performance and behaviour.

Who is this Course for?

This course is for operations and quarry managers and superintendents who are responsible for:

  • Leading and managing workers,
  • Operational, financial, and capital planning and management,
  • Extractive resource planning and operations,
  • Managing Maintenance,
  • Implementing and maintaining systems to control safety and health, environmental, quality risk,
  • Ensuring internal and external compliance requirements are met, and
  • Managing resources, budgets, and cost control processes.

The course is suitable for students who have 5 + years’ experience in mining and quarrying, as well as experienced students who are transitioning from aligned industries.

Duration and Delivery

The duration of this course is 3-6 months depending on the candidates’ experience.

The course is delivered via the following:

  • On-demand Personal Trainer
  • Self-paced online study
  • Face to face ONSITE by arrangement only.

Packaging Rules

Course Curriculum.

The course includes eleven Units of Competency (UoC), with students completing one to two UoC per month. The qualification should take approximately twelve months to complete.

Module 1: Safety and Health Management System Development, Implementation and Compliance.

Module 2: Risk Management System Development, Implementation and Practice.

Topic 2: Leadership

Module 1: Operational Leadership Practice.

Module 2: Conflict Management, Dispute Resolution and Problem Solving.

Module 3: Emotional Intelligence, Personal Development Planning and Practice

Topic 3: Management

Module 1: Planning, Directing and Controlling Operations

Session 1:  Finance and Capital.

Session 2: Production Management.

Session 3: Maintenance Management.

Session 4: Extractive Resource Management.

Session 5: Environmental Management.

Module 2: Worker Engagement and Personnel Development.
